Designers: Charles and Ray Eames. The lounge chair and ottoman have their origin in Charles and Ray’s investigations into molding plywood and a desire to improve upon a familiar fixture in many living rooms: the lounge chair. Citing the English club chair as inspiration, Charles said he sought to design a modern version of that chair, one that had “the warm receptive look of a well-used first basemans mitt.� Almost immediately, the design became an icon of American design. Today, these pieces not only live in museums, but continue to offer comfort and style to interiors around the world. A universally recognized form, the set is available in a variety of veneers, multiple leather options, and two sizes. Whatever selection you make, you can be assured of the quality and authenticity of this design.
Is there an option to get this chair in a fabric material like cord?
We do not currently have plans to offer the Eames Lounge & Ottoman with a fabric option like Cord, but we appreciate your suggestion. The Eames Lounge & Ottoman chairs made today stay true to the original design by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956. Over the years we have made slight changes to provide the best possible product while still honoring the design heritage. The chair's original design included an aniline leather, and we now offer a new MCL leather, which provides the same softness of the original leather, along with durability and color-fastness.

Designers: Charles and Ray Eames. AKA the Time-Life chair—because it was created in 1959 for the ultramodern lobbies of the Time-Life Building in New York. Also appropriate because, when you sit in it, you’ll have the time of your life.
What is the seat height of the Eames Executive Chair -if on casters?
As a handicapped and very small adult, it is imperative for me to see all the measurements, especially seat min./max., and best to receive the information directly from you -not third parties.
Also, do you have more detailed descriptions of the chair fabric options -elsewhere here on your site or perhaps in a catalog?
As displayed now, subtle yet important factors remain elusive between your options: one fabric may be considered quite comfortable and hardy for the demands of a long-hours, large-staffed office while another fabric may be widely agreed as the softest against the skin and while also long-lasting, perhaps better suited to the demands of one person's daily usage.

The Eames Executive Chair has a minimum seat height of 17.5" and a maximum seat height of 20" if on casters.

White/aluminum base
Will the white/aluminum base of the white ash version of this chair become an option on this version? Ie. could you place a white/aluminum base on a walnut veneer chair?
Herman Miller does not currently have plans to offer the white polished aluminum base for the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, but we greatly appreciate your suggestion. In September the Eames Soft Pad Lounge Chair was released with a white aluminum base and frame. As part of the initiative, it is possible that we may be evaluating additional products to release with the white base.

How do I assemble this table? Instructions were not included.

Eames Molded Plastic Side Chair with Wire Base
Designers: Charles and Ray Eames. A classic piece of mid-century furniture. As stylish and useful today as when it was designed in 1950. A multitude of color choices can be paired with either a chrome or black base.
Is this chair well suited for outdoor use ?
How well the chair will deal with sun, heat, moisture, rain, insects and bird "gifts" ?
Although the Eames Molded Plastic Armchair is a very durable chair, it is not designed for outdoor use. If exposed to prolonged sun, colors may fade over time. Please follow the proper care and maintenance to maintain quality.
Care & Maintenance
If your chair is exposed to outdoor elements or bird "gifts," be sure to wash plastic surfaces with a soft cloth soaked in mild detergent and water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive kitchen cleaners.
To clean the chrome chair legs, wet cheesecloth in a non abrasive cleaner, like liquid dish soap, and rub the chrome component lightly until the original luster reappears. Dry the chrome with a soft cloth to remove any soap residue.

I am 5'2" and well within the weight range for size A. However, my iMac is on my kitchen table. My current seat height with the (foam cushion) chair I want to replace is about 20 inches. It varies depending on where I take the measurement. At the front of the seat, it is 19"; at the side middle, it is about 20.5". Of course, this is without me sitting in the chair. I am wondering about the effect of my weight upon the seat height when I am sitting in the chair.
Since the Aeron has no foam cushioning, does this change the approximation of actual seat height? At what area of the Aeron seat is the seat height determined?
I think I should get a size A, but I do not want to get a chair that is too low for my monitor and computer eyeglasses.

The Aeron chair seat height is measured from the floor to the center of the seat, and the measurement will not be impacted by sitting in the chair. It is designed to be fully adjustable to each individual's height, weight and movements. The size A chair adjusts to the following height range:
Size A: 14 3/8" - 19 1/2"

Does the Adjustable Lumbar Support for the Aeron chair works the same way as the one for the Mirra chair?
Does the Adjustable Lumbar Support goes up an down and also in and out, just like the Adjustable Lumbar Support that comes with the Mirra seat?. Or It just goes up and down?

The adjustable lumbar support for the Aeron chair is designed to fill the curve in your back while in the recline position. It will also support the small of your back while in the upright position. It slides up and down only and can be flipped over on the track to provide more or less support. The adjustable lumbar support for Aeron allows you to adjust the height, while Mirra's support allows you to adjust both height and depth.

Lumbar Support vs. Posture Fit - Please Define Reclining
In a previous question/answer, it was stated loosely that the lumbar support is better suited to those who prefer to recline.
Could you please define "recline" - do you mean leaning way back, like to stretch? Or does reclining mean simply leaning one's back upon the support of the chair back?
To me, sitting upright means sitting with strict spinal alignment. Please enlighten further!

With using the word "recline," we are referring to the group of people who feel more comfortable leaning back in their chair as they work. They prefer to sit in the reclined position, by placing their back on the back support of the chair. This puts more weight on the lower back support for their chair, which is why we recommend the adjustable lumbar support for this person.
Other people prefer to sit upright and do not tend to lean back in their chair frequently. In this situation, we would recommend choosing the adjustable PostureFit solution, which provides support to your lower back while in the upright position.
