Aeron Chair

Hardwood casters?
Is there anyway to get hardwood casters on a new purchase? It shows carpet casters on the order page with no way of changing it.

Is it possible to add a headrest/pillow to the swivel-only version?
At this time, we offer the headrest only with the tilt swivel option for the Eames Aluminum Group Lounge Chair. If you select that option, the headrest will match the seat material chosen.

Based on Classic Aeron. Designers: Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick. All the ergonomic and aesthetic features of the classic Aeron office chair—Pellicle woven suspension material, PostureFit technology, Kinemat Tilt—along with an adjustable footring create a high-performance work stool.
How do I order the high stool as opposed to the low stool?
I have seen both stool heights listed at other sites, but I don't see a way to make the selection on the Herman Miller site.
Currently the Herman Miller Store offers only the low stool. The seat range on the low stool is 47.75" - 52.25". The high stool, with a seat range of 52.5" - 57.25" is available from some of our authorized Herman Miller retailers. You can find a retailer near you by using our retailer locator:

As the tilt-version and swivel-only version have different seat height, is the Ottoman height adjustable?

Eames Molded Plastic Side Chair with Stacking Base
Designers: Charles and Ray Eames. A classic piece of mid-century furniture, this model has a base designed specifically to be stackable for easy storage. A multitude of color choices can be paired with either a chrome or black base.
Seat Height
I am interested in these chairs as an alternative for extra seating around the dining table instead of folding chairs. I like that they can stack and tuck away when not in use. I am an architect and have always loved Eames design.
My question is about seat height. I have searched many places about these chairs and get mixed information with regards to seat height. My table is 30.25" tall, and most places I find the seat height of these chairs as 16.25" high. That seems a bit too short for most dining tables produced by major retailers today. Back when these chairs were designed, most dining tables were arond 28.5" high and might have been perfect height for these chairs. Some websites claim the seat height is 17.5", some say 16.25".
So can you tell me exactly the seat height of these chairs? I'd also like to know if it is different from the Wood dowel leg chair since it would be nice to pair them up.

Is the Eames molded plastic chair suited for outdoor use?
Our Eames Molded Plastic Side Chairs are very durable, but they are not designed for outdoor use. If they are exposed to prolonged sun, colors may fade over time. Please follow our recommended care and maintenance for the chairs to maintain quality.
Care & Maintenance
If your chair is exposed to outdoor elements be sure to wash plastic surfaces with a soft cloth soaked in mild detergent and water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive kitchen cleaners.

My chair creaks when I lean back how can I grease it?
I have a 24 year old Eames Aluminum Group Management Chair. It is in great shape but it has started to creak when I lean back. Is WD40 safe to use or is there something better to use to get it back in shape?
We would recommend using a Teflon lubricant on the tilt block area to eliminate the creaking noise. Spray into the small opening between the torsion bar and the housing in both directions (see green arrows in attached diagram). This is in the center of the support beam that runs below the chair. We would recommend making sure you have a cloth ready to catch any dripping of the lubricant after application.

Can table tops be ordered separately?
I'd like to change out my 48" table top with a 42" table top.
We do not currently offer the table tops for order separate from the bases on the Herman Miller Store. Since the segmented base for the 48" top and 42" top is the same, you are able to switch out the tops and keep the same base.
