Designers: Charles and Ray Eames. The lounge chair and ottoman have their origin in Charles and Ray’s investigations into molding plywood and a desire to improve upon a familiar fixture in many living rooms: the lounge chair. Citing the English club chair as inspiration, Charles said he sought to design a modern version of that chair, one that had “the warm receptive look of a well-used first basemans mitt.� Almost immediately, the design became an icon of American design. Today, these pieces not only live in museums, but continue to offer comfort and style to interiors around the world. A universally recognized form, the set is available in a variety of veneers, multiple leather options, and two sizes. Whatever selection you make, you can be assured of the quality and authenticity of this design.
Does the Eames Lounge chair seat back support the neck of a 6' tall man?
The Eames Lounge Chair has a height of 24 inches from the top of the seat cushion to the top of the seat back. For most men over 6 feet, the seat back supports them up to their shoulders in a lounging position, however, does not support the neck.

Squeaky chair
My chair has recently developed a series of squeaks every time I move in the chair with the majority of squeaks when the chair changes tilt. Is there anything I can do to stop this problem?
The Aeron Chair carries as 12 year warranty with all original owners for chairs manufactured from the year 2000 to present. Please contact the authorized dealer or retailer where you purchased the Aeron Chair and they will help you fix the squeak.

How far does the chair tilt?
The Eames Aluminum Group Lounge Chair tilts from a 10 to 30 degrees recline. We recommend leaving 10 inches between the back of the chair and the wall to ensure that you do not bump the wall when reclining in the chair.

Can you lock the Standard Tilt Upright?
I generally like to sit up and hate leaning back in my office chairs. Every cheap and basic chair I have owned with the ability to tilt, has the option to lock upright, but it is not clear whether I can do that with an Aeron chair.
Will the Standard Tilt mechanism allow me to lock it up in the upright position? or do I need to buy the Tilt Limiter?

The standard Kinemat® Tilt lets the body naurally pivot at the ankles, knees and hips, however, does not allow you to lock the tilt at any angle.
You would need to select the "Tilt Limiter" option to be able to set the tilt range and lock it in the upright position. One of the benefits with the "Tilt Limiter" is that it does have a forward sitting position, which allows you to be angled more towards your work while still giving you support.

Embody is purposeful design that creates harmony between your mind and body, and between your body and work.
Extended height option and custom castors
In the product brochure pdf there is an option to chose different heights for the embody chair including an extended height opposed to standard height. However on the herman miller online store here I do not see any options to select a height option when going through the checkout process.
2nd question, are the casters used by herman miller base use a typical 7/16"ø standard shaft for attachment so 3rd party casters can be used? Even with the extended height it will be short an inch or two for my purposes, but can be rectified by using 4" casters instead of standard 2".

We currently offer the standard height version of the Embody Chair online, but additional options, including extended height can be purchashed through a Herman Miller authorized dealer or retailer.
The Herman Miller bases use the 7/16" shaft because it is the industry standard. We do not test our products for third party casters. Third party casters may fit, but they would void the warranty.

what are the measurements of the Caper Multipurpose Chair with Arm rest?
The distance from the top of the arm pad to the floor at the lowest seat height position is 25 1/4 inches and 30 inches at the highest seat height position. The height from the top of the chair back to the floor is 43.6 inches and the height of the chair seat to the floor is 38.1 inches. The width of the chair is 24.5 inches and the depth is 18 inches.
