Designer: Yves Béhar. Inspired by suspension bridges—structures that deliver the most using the least material—Sayls 3D Intelligent back lets you stretch and move, striking a healthy balance between support and freedom. The elastomer strands vary in thickness and tension to provide greater support along the spine where you need it most, and less everywhere else so you are free to move.

I use this chair in my home office and sit in it for at least 8 hours a day. Had it a year now and I can say the comfort is still great and has been very good for my bad lower back. Now to get picky on a few things. The lumbar support really doesn't do anything for me and wasn't worth the money. Also, after a year, the chair has gotten a loud creaking noise when shifting your weight, leaning back, or moving around in any motion other than a swivel. The noise is coming from the plastic pieces that attach to the steel seat support and is starting to get annoying. Also, the material used for the back is really cool looking when you get it but near impossible to clean all those little openings. All that said, you get what you pay for and the price can't be beat for this kind of comfort. Wish I worked for a company that would buy me an aeron chair but since this purchase came from my own pocket, I'd do it again and again.

Is there enough support in the chair if one doesn't get the additional lumber support?

I've had Aeron chairs before and find I don't adjust/use the lumber support as much as I thought I would. I tend to lean forward more than back. So wondering whether it's worth getting the extra lumbar support or not.
It's not worth it. The support provided is pretty cheesy and honestly, I don't think a person is really going to feel much of a difference. Mine keeps sliding down as well.
